1. 100% On-Device AI Architecture

Unlike conventional cloud AI services (such as ChatGPT, Claude, or online homework apps) that transmit every question, essay, and prompt over the internet to remote servers, Meam.ai operates on an on-device-only architecture.

The machine learning models that generate Socratic guidance, diagnose misconceptions, and provide hints execute directly on the Neural Engine and GPU of your Apple device (iPhone and iPad) via Apple CoreML and Metal Performance Shaders.

Because the model runs locally:

• No audio, typed text, or math problems are sent to Meam.ai or any third-party cloud provider.
• No remote server logs are created containing student prompts or answers.
• Your learning history cannot be used to train frontier AI models.

2. Local Storage & Data Security

Any data generated during your study sessions — such as current problem state, mastery badges, and session counters — is stored exclusively within the sandboxed application storage of your iOS or iPadOS device.

• Local Sandboxing: All application data resides in Apple's secure application sandbox, inaccessible to other apps.
• Encrypted at Rest: Storage leverages iOS device encryption (Data Protection API) tied to the device's hardware Secure Enclave.
• Parent PIN Protection: Parent Vault credentials and controls are hashed and stored securely using the Apple Keychain.

If you delete the Meam.ai app from your device, all local study logs and session data are immediately and permanently erased.

3. Parent Vault & Family Privacy

Meam.ai includes a built-in Parent Vault protected by a 4-digit PIN set by a parent or guardian. The Parent Vault provides family controls without compromising student autonomy:

• Daily Study Caps: Set maximum daily tutoring sessions (default 60 minutes) to promote healthy screen habits.
• Quiet Hours: Enforce evening study curfews (default 9:00pm to 7:00am) so bedtime remains distraction-free.
• Subject Toggles: Enable or disable specific academic subjects based on your child's curriculum priorities.
• Zero-Transcript Progress Summaries: Parents can view high-level aggregate learning indicators (e.g., subjects studied, topics practiced, session duration) without reading raw student journal chats. We protect student psychological safety while keeping parents informed.

4. Safety Net & Crisis Support

Student mental health and safety are paramount. Meam.ai includes built-in safety net classifiers designed to detect expressions of severe emotional distress, self-harm, or crisis.

When a safety concern is identified, Meam.ai immediately enters a fail-closed safety state, stops standard tutoring dialogue, and provides immediate, direct, one-tap access to certified, confidential Canadian support services:

5. Regulatory Privacy Compliance

Meam.ai is engineered specifically for education and complies with applicable Canadian and North American privacy legislation:

• PIPEDA (Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act) & Ontario MFIPPA: Meam.ai aligns with Canada's federal privacy law and Ontario's Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act guidelines. Because no student chat transcripts or journal entries ever leave the user's hardware, families and school boards maintain complete sovereignty over their data. Any personal information submitted on our website (namely, waitlist email addresses) is strictly managed in accordance with PIPEDA's Fair Information Principles.
• COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act): Meam.ai does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years of age. Our waitlist is explicitly restricted to parents, educators, and students who are at least 13 years old. If a student is under the age of 13, a parent or legal guardian must submit their own email address on the student's behalf.
• CASL (Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation): All email collection on our waitlist requires explicit opt-in consent. We collect your email address solely to send beta access invitations and pre-launch product announcements. We identify ourselves as Meam.ai (Toronto, Ontario, Canada), never send unsolicited commercial electronic messages (CEMs), and honor all consent withdrawals immediately. Every broadcast communication includes an instant, 1-click unsubscribe mechanism.

6. Website Data & Waitlist Collection

While the Meam.ai iOS & iPadOS mobile application operates completely on-device with zero remote data collection, our marketing website (meam.ai) processes minimal information necessary to deliver pre-launch services:

• Waitlist Submissions: When you voluntarily submit your email to join the iOS & iPadOS beta waitlist, we store only your email address, referral source, country of origin (derived from IP headers), and timestamp. Submissions are processed via our first-party serverless architecture powered by Cloudflare Workers and stored in an encrypted Cloudflare D1 database.
• Purpose & Data Minimization: We use your email solely to deliver beta test invitations and essential pre-launch announcements. We will never sell, rent, license, or monetize your contact information with advertisers or data brokers.
• Data Retention & Permanent Deletion: Waitlist records are retained until the public launch of the application or until you withdraw your consent. You may request immediate and permanent deletion of your email from our database at any time by contacting us at [email protected] with the subject line "Waitlist Deletion Request". Requests are fulfilled within 48 hours.
• Hosting Infrastructure & Security Logs: Our website is distributed globally via Cloudflare and GitHub Pages. Ephemeral network logs (such as IP address, user-agent, and requested path) may be temporarily processed at the network edge solely to mitigate DDoS attacks, block malicious scrapers, and maintain edge network security.
• Website Analytics (Google Analytics): We use Google Analytics (gtag.js) to evaluate aggregate, anonymized website traffic and pre-launch engagement. Google Analytics uses first-party cookies to measure aggregate visitor interactions and waitlist signup events. We do not use third-party advertising trackers or retargeting pixels, and we never link analytics data with personal student information.

7. In-App Purchases & Subscriptions

All financial transactions and purchases (such as the 6-Month, Annual Academic, or Lifetime Pass) are processed exclusively through Apple's App Store using StoreKit 2. Meam.ai does not collect, process, or store your credit card number, billing address, or payment details. Apple manages your subscription details according to Apple's own Privacy Policy.
